Local Inference as a Public Option

Projection: libraries, schools, clinics, and municipalities will offer privacy-preserving local inference for basic translation, forms, learning, and information access. A public option can set a floor for access and portability, provided it receives updates, evaluation, and human support rather than becoming abandoned hardware.
