Mechanistic Audits for Biology Models
Projection: biological foundation models are approaching a reproducibility test. Their internal features must connect to mechanisms that scientists can perturb, falsify, and repeat at the bench. An audit should separate three claims too easily blurred together: the model predicts well, its explanation is plausible, and the proposed mechanism is actually causal.
