Civic AI Needs Ombuds Offices

Projection: Public bodies using AI will need reachable ombuds functions that can investigate contested decisions, obtain the underlying records, order corrections, and identify recurring system failures. This is institutional capacity rather than an appeal API: a resident should have a human forum even when they cannot navigate a digital interface.

Why this idea is here

What the evidence establishes.

The cited captures establish expanding AI regulation and concern about software-agent authority. They do not prove adoption of AI ombuds offices; the observable test is whether public bodies fund independent, reachable review capacity with access to system records.
