Capability-Gated Biological Design
As biological design models become more capable, access policy should respond to measured capability rather than parameter count or branding. Use standardized biological uplift evaluations, tiered sequence screening, user verification, and logged high-risk workflows, with independent researchers testing whether safeguards remain effective after fine-tuning and tool access.

The 2026 international safety report describes biological-risk concerns and additional model safeguards; Evo 2 demonstrates broad genome prediction and generation and openly releases model parameters, code, and data. Capability-gated access policy is the editorial recommendation, not a documented Evo 2 governance process.
